Evaluation Process
When you submit a proposal for a book, the Editor in Chief will first determine whether it meets the general criteria for books published by the International Costumers’ Guild Press. If so, the proposal is passed to a Selection Committee who will make an evaluation based on the merits of the work.
The Committee will consider whether the proposal includes enough information about the book to determine the merits of the proposal. In addition to the merits of the proposal, the Committee will also consider whether the author has demonstrated expertise in the topic, and whether the author has demonstrated writing skills necessary to create the proposed book. If the Committee determines that the proposal has merit, it will submit a positive recommendation to the Editor in Chief.
If there is a completed manuscript, the Editor in Chief will ask you to send it. The Committee will read and evaluate the manuscript for completeness, accuracy, readability, and how well it addresses the needs of its proposed audience. The Committee will also determine its contribution by comparing it with other books on similar topics.
If the Committee determines that the manuscript has merit, it will submit a positive recommendation to the Editor in Chief to accept the book for publication. If the Committee recommendation is positive, the Editor in Chief will make a final determination. At that point an editor will be assigned to will work with you and to see the manuscript through the publication process.
