Jeanine Swick has played a formidable role both for the International Costumers’ Guild and in the wider costuming community for over a decade and a half.

Service to the ICG

In her role as ICG Treasurer since 2009, she has exceeded all expectations in performing the duties of her office. Not only has she ensured  that its finances have been impeccably maintained and annual budgets prepared and submitted, but she has also performed all the membership functions including interacting with chapters on monthly membership updates, contacting chapters who have become delinquent, and in a few cases the difficult job of notifying chapters that they are no longer associated with the ICG when they have lapsed. 

She also participates as a member of multiple ICG committees, including  Budget and Finance, Publications, Technology and Web, and the Marty Gear Costuming Arts and Sciences Fund Administration Committee.

Her exemplary service has been recognized with the ICG President’s Award on four occasions. (http://costume.org/wp/presidentaward/), indicating high regard for her services to the ICG.

To say that Jeanine Swick has played and continues to play a pivotal in the life of the ICG would be a considerable understatement.

Role in the Costuming Community

Jeanine is widely recognized in multiple costuming communities for both her participation and craftsmanship, and for offering encouragement to others. She is especially active in medieval costuming within the Society for Creative Anachronism, where she also vendors costume accessories that are highly regarded for their quality and craftsmanship. She is also known for offering helpful advice to newer costumers. Finally, she is the first of a three-generation family who has participated in costuming, textile and wearable arts, and competitions.

Costuming Skills

Jeanine has demonstrated considerable costuming skills, including costuming construction and performance during various local, regional, and international competitions. Here are a few recent and past examples of her work at past Costume-Cons. In addition, she has made or participated in making costumes for her daughter and her grandson, has been a judge or a judges clerk, and volunteers in other roles at these events.
