The ICG has just been awarded a 2018 Platinum Seal of Transparency by the non-profit reporting agency, GuideStar In announcing the award, GuideStar stated,
“Congratulations. You have demonstrated your commitment to nonprofit transparency, and have earned the Platinum Participation Level.”
The ICG participates in the categories of “Art and Culture” and “Education.”
GuideStar was one of the first central sources of information on U.S. nonprofits[4] and is the world’s largest source of information about nonprofit organizations. GuideStar is used by most grant-making organizations and others to verify the non-profit status and operating practices of an organization.
GuideStar combines information that it receives from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service with information provided by the organizations themselves to award levels of transparency. The ICG began participating in the program in 2016 and achieved GuideStar’s highest Gold level at that time. This year, GuideStar added a higher Platinum level, and the ICG just qualified for this new level.
As a 501(c)(3) organization in the U.S., the ICG accepts contributions and grants from individuals and organizations to support its educational programs, as well as the work of the ICG Pat and Peggy Kennedy Memorial Archives, and grants made by the Marty Gear Costume Arts and Sciences Fund.
As a benefit of the ICG’s Group Exemption Letter Program, which enables chapters and SIGs to become non-profits at no cost, participating GEL chapters and SIGs are also eligible to register with GuideStar and participate in their seal of transparency program.
