I am pleased to announce the the ICG Board of Directors has approved
the creation of the ICG Press. The ICG Press will publish books and
monographs that are of interest to the costuming community. It will
provide a place for costumers and those interested in costuming to share
their knowledge in greater depth than through short articles in the
ICG’s The International Costumer or chapter newsletters, or longer
articles in the Silicon Web Costumers’ Guild’s The Virtual Costumer
magazine.

The ICG Press is under the oversight of the ICG Publications Committee,
which also oversees “The International Costumer” and its editor. The ICG
Press will be lead by an Editor in Chief recommended by the committee
and approved by the ICG Board. A selection committee will evaluate
publication proposals and make recommendations to the Editor in Chief.

The ICG Press will use a publication platform that supports both online
and print-on-demand publications to provide more choices for readers,
limit costs, and streamline the publication process. An online catalog
of titles will be available on the ICG website, and customers can order
directly from the catalog or from Amazon and other distributors.

This is an important step for the ICG as a non-profit educational
organization for hobbyist and professional costumers, and those
interested in costuming as an art form. One of the ICG’s missions is to
educate and promote the sharing of knowledge about costuming. Having a
publishing arm will help further that mission, and gain recognition for
the ICG and the value of ICG membership.

I am very excited about this new venture, and encourage members and
others in the costuming community to consider publishing
costuming-related books and monographs through the ICG Press. The
Publications Committee will share further information with members as
the ICG Press gets up and running.
