Ricky Dick started costuming at an early age. He first learned to
sew and do beadwork
through Boy Scouts and attending Native American
Pow-Wows. He started attending
S/F conventions in 1979 and quickly took to
the masquerade competitions. In 1985
he founded what would one day be the
third ICG chapter: The Sick Pups of Greater
Monmouth County (aka the NJ/NY
chapter). His makeup skills were his first attention-getter
in costuming,
followed by obsessive attention to detail, interesting presentations,
and a
very odd sense of humor.
