| Marjii Ellers was a shining example
that costuming could be a life long
hobby and passion. She went from modeling skimpy
costumes and fanciful
headpieces at Beaux-Arts Balls in her 20's to winning major
awards at
WorldCon and NasFic Masquerades in her 40's, 50's, and 60's. In her later
years, she mentored younger costumers and was a major force in promoting
recognition
for hall costumes as well as stage costumes. She also
encouraged highly competitive
WorldCon costumers to play nicely with each
other. Her motto was Tennyson's
"One equal temper of heroic hearts."
Marjii passed away in 1999. |
